Every solid body gets its own line in your BOM.

Fusion’s own BOM and drawing Parts List list components only. IntelliBOM also lists each solid body you model, with its material, mass, stock and cost. As far as we know, no other BOM tool for Fusion does this yet. You keep your design exactly as you built it.

One design, two bills of materials.

This tool stand is one component with six solid bodies. Switch between the two lists, then point at a line to find its body.

Example design. Masses calculated from the sizes (birch plywood 680 kg/m³, steel 7.85 g/cm³). Prices are examples.

The same on a real design.

FUSION · BILL OF MATERIALS
  • One line: the design
  • Its seven bodies are not listed
INTELLIBOM · PROCUREMENT BOM
  • A line for each of the seven bodies
  • Material, vendor and cost on every line
  • Row Details for the selected body

No converting bodies into components.

Autodesk’s advice for a BOM of a multi-body design is to convert each body into a component first: right-click, Create Components from Bodies. That changes the structure of your design, and every new body needs the same step.

IntelliBOM reads the bodies where they are. Your design stays as you built it, and the BOM follows it the next time you click Refresh.

The body count decides.

There is nothing to set up. Each time IntelliBOM scans your design, it counts the solid bodies.

In your design In your BOM
A component with one solid body One part
A component with two or more solid bodies A subassembly with one line per body
Solid bodies beside sub-components One line per body, beside the sub-components
Solid bodies made in the design, outside any component One line per body
A component set to Buy One purchased item; its bodies are not listed
A hidden solid body Listed like the others; exclude it in Row Details if you do not need it
An external reference with several bodies Its bodies are listed, read-only
A surface or mesh body Not listed

A body line works like any part.

The settings stay with the body.

IntelliBOM stores each body’s settings on the body itself, inside your Fusion design. In our tests they stayed intact through saving and reopening, a full restart of Fusion, a feature edit that changed the body’s shape, a timeline replay and undo.

When you split a body, the piece that keeps the name keeps the settings and the new pieces start empty. When you combine bodies, the target body keeps its settings.

Questions

Do I have to change how I model?

No. Use components, bodies or both. IntelliBOM lists what it finds.

Does each body count toward the free version’s 10 lines?

Yes. A body line is a line, like any part.

Does IntelliBOM change Fusion’s own BOM?

No. Fusion’s BOM and the drawing Parts List stay as they are. IntelliBOM shows its own list in its palette.

Try it on your own multi-body design.
